AHH! WE HAS BABIES!

Theres a house finch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_finch) that made a nest in my hanging potted plant. She laid eggs a little less than two weeks ago and they hatched today! She laid 5 eggs and so far four have hatched. There so TINY and CUTE! I'm used to seeing ugly little wrinkled featherless things (baby birds when they're first hatched are rather ugly in a "its a baby bird squee!!!" kind of way- so not cute but very loveable. Well, 'cept for chickens. Baby chickens are cute fuzzballs oo*) and seeing these guys was a welcome shock. They had a white light fuzzy downy coat all over and tiny little beaks. Their eyes weren't open yet. I took pictures but my camera is crap. I may post them later. But, yeah, I'm tickled pink ^^

Heylaaaaa!

I finally got off my tail and was crafty today. I made F&Z a wedding gift, my aunt Holly's gift, finished a commission, and made a bunch of feather earrings that I'm going to sell at Beltaine and Aggiecon. ^^ I'm pleased. My creative bones been itching and I've had little energy to scratch it. Here pics!

*snicker* I'm trying to fix Ran's (My previous pet bird who died due to conure bleeding syndrome after I'd only had him a few months) things - His commemorative plaque with his footprints and the bird magnet I got. I've painted the bird magnet to look like him (damn it looks good! I'll take pics and post them later). Wish I had a feather from him, but I don't, the vet who took care of him sent me a plaque with his footprints on it and his name. Its really beautiful. I mentioned when I took him in to the vets that his name meant "orchid" in Japanese, so the vetstudent had gone out of her way to find out the kanji for Ran and put it on the plaque. I was (and am still) deeply touched by this. I had never looked up the kanji for Ran before, so I did now on a whim. I'm highly amused. The kanji she put on here IS "Ran" But there are several translations of Ran. Theres Ran ( 蘭　-Orchid), Ran ( 欄　- column- like in a newspaper), and Ran ( 乱　- war, rebellion). She put 乱. I'm rather amused. Though I think I may tape on a ribbon with the right kanji on it. War/Rebellion does not suit Ran. Ran was a quiet, sweet, considerate bird who was miraculously naturally poop trained. The utter and complete opposite of the meaning of that kanji. I wont paint over it because I love that the vet student went out of her way to find the "right" kanji to put on it (Even if she didn't realize that Ran was several different words ^^*) and paint it in his colors (Green and red- he was a green-cheeked conure), I'll just put something on it with the right kanji so its on there and then clean it up. They sealed it with some kind of sealer that stays tacky, so any dust that falls on it, sticks. At one point it was stuck to a purple feather boa (No idea where I got that from or where it went to) and so some purple feathers pieces are stuck to it. I need to clean it and reseal it with something better.

Anyhow, thought I'd share as thats kinda amusing (Specially to my two friends who read this blog that are interested in Japanese). ^^

I wish I had a ton of money just so I could get tons of manga. I went on a spree this weekend and got the new bleach, gravitation, Trigun Maximum, Ruroni Kenshin, and DNAngel. And damnit, DNAngel and RK are EXCELLENT in manga form. --* I wanna read more.

And.. what the hell has my bird been eating today? His breath REEKS. --*

I might be able to deal with the idea of certain parrots being outlawed but once I reached the "No grandfather" portion is when all bets and open mindedness to WHY they're being banned were off and the pissed off cat claws come out and I want to KILL someone. Fortunately, with my degree and career goals I NEVER have to go near that state.

Ok, I've just realized something thats rather freaky. Hummingbirds are WEIRD. Their keel bones are HUGE, and their wings are REALLY freaky. Theyre ALL flight feathers. Hardly anything else.

Also, was reading a remus x sirius fanfic and read the greatest warning for one ever: "BOY LOVE! If you can't stand hot gay guys, don't marry one."

So my evening is going like this:

Me: *stares into mug full of thick baby diaper green liquid and tries to will her gag complex to deal with thick drinks and foods. Likes the taste of this drink bug gags on its thickness and it looks very unpleasant. Needs more vegies in her diet and is sorely lacking nutrients which this drink has so is willing herself to at least drink a little a day....*
Aya: Queep... queep... *insistantly wiggles his wings in a "gimme gimme gimme" fashion*
Me: *holds drink up to Aya*
Aya: *tentatively drinks. Looks at it and happily dives in for more.*
Me: *glares at her bird for his love of the tasty but thick and nastly looking drink* Yeah well.. you vomit up your last half digested meal and then happily enjoy it again... *goes back to trying to finish her drink*
