McGuyver again

So, I appear to be really rooting for being nicknamed McGuyver officially. Not on purpose, though. --*

Jarvis is aliiiiive!
(Jarvis being the name of New Computer)

Jarvis is freaking loud... oO* Seems I picked an applicable name for it. Sounds like a hurricane taking off (or Iron Man himself --*.) Maybe I should have called it Zephyr (gentle breeze)? Anyhow, will start installing all my prgs and stuff to it tomorrow. I'm quite pleased.

Walmart goes green?

When I was in my multimedia class (about a year ago or more) I did a report on Walmart. One of the most recent things where walmart was concerned was it's new CEO's declaration of a massive overhaul to make Walmart a more green company. More green products, reducing their fleets gas usage by 80% (or some crazy number like that), reducing said gas usage by buying from local farmers and businesses instead of shipping it from one source, fuckton of organic stuff at really low prices, etc. etc. The whole shoot'n match. It was a WONDERFUL idea. Theres no way in hell that massive global companies like Valdemart will go away nor is it feasible that the majority of people will cease to use them- so my not going to Valdemart doesn't make a difference to them at all, and probably the rest of the greenies like me that avoid it on our principles. They've still got a massive customer base thats unlikely to drop... However, this is a bonus when considered that as a massive company, any change they make will also be a massive one and have huge effects. For a company like that to go green (or even to add a slight amount of green to their building wide canvas of slate black) would have a large effect. But this IS The-Store-That-Must-Not-Be-Named so I was (still am) skeptical.

Fuck me sideways- they're actually implementing some of this. I avoid Valdemart like the plague but needed to take my recyclables to the center (which resides in the mega-Valdemart's parking lot) and I needed some potting soil for my tomato, mint, and squash (Hey, Fox, want some squash? My boss gave me two) so I went to Valdemart. Apparently its eco-month (or some shit like that... hey, I hold every month to be eco month, so to me eco-awareness month is kinda pointless but whatever...) and Valdemart is really pushing alot of eco products. Around the whole store there are kiosks pointing out green products and advice (like for example one had donald duck pajamas that were made from organic cotton or something like that.) It made me quite pleased.

I also ran across one product that I loved so much I had to get it (I needed some anyhow.) Its a product like called Pure & natural (www.pure-natural.com) and they sell namely soaps (hand soap and bottle soap and such.) Its a all-natural soap, hypo-allergenic, glycerin base, etc. etc. The usual stuff for a natural happy soap. What really made me squee was the fact that the packaging is biodegradeable and made 100% from post consumer waste- and has Baby's Breath seeds embedded in it. You don't recycle or throw away the packaging. You bury it in your garden, water it, and watch your plants grow. ^^ And to top it all off its a made in America product. I've not gotten to try it out yet (I'm still whittling down the soap I got from a friends wedding), but I'm hoping the product is as good as all the packaging. It smells pretty good though. I'm tickled pink ^^

I'm also wondering what else has been implemented that was not directly obvious to my eye (which was admittedly distracted and didn't notice anything but the glaringly obvious- like the huge signs for Eco-month '08 and the HUGE kiosks saying 'Green Friendly!') I'll have to do a news search later, I'm curious. And hopeful. For now tho, I wanna go to bed.

Oh, yeah, Foxylady, I'll be calling you tomorrow. ^^ I've got a question or two for ya. (nothing major, just an idea)

Cut for length and randomness and introspection and dreams. And like of the word  )

The Sultans Elephant

I was reading James Gurneys blog (trying to learn more about color and gearing up to work on a digital piece) and ran across this:

Utterly freaking wonderful, awesome, and beautiful. Not as cool as a -real- elephant. But still freaking awesome!

"The bill is named for Matthew Shepard, a gay college freshman who was beaten into a coma in 1998 in Laramie, Wyo. He died five days later. (Barbara Wilcox, The Advocate)" -from an article on PO.

WOW. Wilcox-san has a talent for understatement. (ok, using -san works better than the random english Mr. Mrs. etc. ... you don't knwo which they are! --* I like -san...)
